Our Story

My name is Donna, and I’m Mama Lolly’s granddaughter. I grew up in Antigua, tasting and cooking the hot sauce recipes handed down over generations in our family.

After training as a chef in London, I opened a restaurant with my mum, Maxine, in Antigua. We named it after my grandma, who was known and loved for her wise words, bursts of hearty laughter and her fabulously delicious food.

My mum and I made our familys own traditional Caribbean cooking sauces and hot pepper sauces for use in the restaurant. I then returned to the UK where I trained and worked as a vegetarian chef at the Grain Shop in Portobello Road and in the first Planet Organic kitchen, as well as in Tuscany, all the while continuing to make my family’s hot sauces.

I’m currently a chef in a gastropub in Maida Vale as well as Chief Sauce Maker, with Mum, here in London.

Our sauces are inspired by many of the elements that make up our Caribbean way of life – diversity, colours, flavours, sunshine, and the islands’ community spirit. And so, in honour of the legacy of my grandmother’s love for her family, her culture, and her food, this is our mission to share, the essence of her warmth, enthusiasm and vibrancy and Caribbean authenticity.
